Yes, we always give a quote for every customer based on their individual circumstances and hot water needs.

It usually takes between half a day to a full day depending on the complexity of your plumbing and heating system.

If your home has a cold water tank in your attic and is gravity fed you will need an open vented hot water cylinder. Alternatively, a vented cylinder is used where the water supply is coming directly from the mains and is heated by either a boiler, heat pump, or solar panel.

An unvented cylinder is suitable for a home where space is limited as it does not require a cold water tank.

A family of 4 depending on the size of house and needs of the family would typically need somewhere between 120 – 150 litres of hot water daily.

24 Hour Plumber will always find a solution to your home’s hot water needs. We will advise what size cylinder your home needs based on the size of your house and the number of people living in your home. If you install a hot water cylinder that is too large for your home you may end up heating too much unwanted hot water that will lead to inefficiency and larger heating bills.

Many hot water cylinders now have the capacity to connect to Solar PV panels which is much more energy efficient and cost effective. All modern hot water cylinders have become much more energy saving due to better insulation, rapid reheat time and mostly come in stainless steel which retains heat for longer. 

Our plumbers regularly install hot water cylinders in apartments. We usually install a combi hot water tank which is a vented copper hot water tank with hot water storage at the bottom and cold water storage at the top. They are usually 6-7 feet in height.

A hot water cylinder usually lasts anywhere from 8 to 12 years, or even up to 15 years if well maintained. However this can vary depending on factors such as whether you live in an area with hard water and how well your heating system is maintained. Hard water areas can reduce your hot water cylinders’ lifespan and performance. They also require yearly maintenance as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

The first and most obvious sign your hot water cylinder needs replacing is if there is a leak present. This is usually due to a crack in the tank or corrosion present in a copper cylinder. 

No hot water present when you expect means there is a problem present such as a fault in the coil or the immersion depending on what type of cylinder you have.

Most showers typically use about 12 to 15 litres of water every minute which adds up to approximately 120 to 150 litres of water for 10 minutes in the shower.

Faced with an emergency as water was flowing freely across floor in a rental property. Unfortunately the tenant did not report the problem. Turned off water at mains and called 24 hour Plumber service. I was told plumber would be with me within 2 hrs. True to word plumber arrived within stated time and made an immediate repair. He stayed whilst tank in attic refilled to ensure repair was true. The plumber was an absolute gentleman. From this experience I will definitely use this service again.

I rang in a panic on a Saturday due to a broken water pump and was told that the earlier appointment would be Wednesday but I'd go on a cancellation list. I got a call on the Sunday night to advise that there was a slot available Monday morning. The plumber rang to discuss the issue before arrival, quotes were completely transparent and the first check from the plumber was fixing the issue rather replacing the pump I.e. trying to save me money. A new pump was required and installed to perfection. Would recommend and will use again. All staff very nice to deal with also

We had a blocked toilet do I sent an email to the 24 hour plumber. I never used then before and they were not recommended yo me. Pamela rang me at 9. The morning didn't suit so we agreed that someone would call after 1. Ryan was in touch around 3.30 to say he would be with me within the hour. He arrived on time and thankfully solved our blocked toilet problem. He was very professional, a real gent who gave a 5 star service.Great service at a reasonable price.Thank you.

Absolutely fantastic service from Trevor. I contacted 24 Hour Plumber to fix my gas boiler and to give the boiler a service. Trevor arrived that evening and got to work. It took longer than he had expected due to pre existing issues with the boiler which he sorted out. All working perfectly again now. I was very impressed by Trevor, he is very professional and courteous and went above and beyond what I would have expected. Also very reasonable price given the amount of time involves. I have no hesitation in recommending 24 Hour Plumber, if there was an option to give more than 5 stars I would give it.

If you are ever in need of a plumber.. then definitely call Trevor!! He tried to fix the problem however, we ended up needing a new tank (not his fault, we had tried to DIY it) and so off he went to get it for us and installed it the same day. Very timely response on a Sunday afternoon. Spent a long time diagnosing the problem, explained it fully, resolved it and sorted another plumbing problem at the same time. Trevor is a what I would call a professional plumber.
