To replace only the button, you will need to source the same model or size as the existing button. Some buttons can be prised off with a flat head screwdriver and the new button clicked into place. Other flush buttons are attached to a hook that connects to the flush mechanism. This type may have to be screwed off and the hook gently released. The new button would then be connected to the hook.

2. Remove the cistern lid and remove the old button
3. Clean the rim to make it easy for the new button to be attached
4. Drain the water from the cistern
5. Detach the whole cistern from the wall
6. Remove the old flush valve and out the new flushing mechanism
7. Fix the new cistern back and then check and adjust the flush valve
8. Attach the new button
9. Turn on the water supply and test flush
